Every child has his or her own time, but every child learns to ski!

The minimum age for children to be able to use our services is 3 years old.

Teens

Children aged 12 and over generally prefer skiing with their parents to theactivity with their friends the same age.

For this reason, group courses and long-lasting activities such as the FREESKI TEAM or the competitive activity of the ski club are very suitable.

In this way the kids are motivated to spend entire days doing sports with their friends.
And the school? It has been proven that kids who play sports also have above average academic performance, and skiing is the right reward after a week of studying!

Adults

If you want to increase your confidence on skis, update or perfect your technique, private lessons are the best way to achieve results in a short time.
The teacher will be able to adapt the teaching based on your requests and desires, with a guaranteed result!

For more fun, the school also organizes group courses for adults with a minimum of 5 people, with which you can start taking your first steps on the snow or improve your technique: in any case, thanks to cutting-edge teaching methods, your desire for snow will become an unforgettable experience.

Questions and Answers

Of course, in fact it is always recommended, especially for periods of high attendance (Christmas and Carnival holidays) and above all if you want a teacher or a particular time.

For private lessons you can pay at our office in Pian Belfé before or after the start of the lessons.
If the lessons are paid for in advance from home, you can go directly to the appointment with the instructor without going to the Ski School.
The group course must be paid for in advance from home, to confirm the booking.

For the success of the lesson it is advisable that the child does not see the parent nearby, as he could be distracted or influenced by his presence. Much better to wait for him at the end and welcome him with a smile and ask if he had fun!

If you are late to the private lesson, the late minutes are lost (if the teacher is available and can also recover them, but it is at the discretion of the teacher himself and only if he has no subsequent lessons).
In case of a
group course you must contact the teacher or the secretariat for try to reach your own course. There are no refunds.

We accept cancellations by 4pm on the day before the lesson/group course.

The group course is a package of group lessons, and as such if you do not participate in one or more days during the week these are lost. However, it is possible to make up for the missed day by agreeing with the teachers or the school secretary .

At the rental they will provide you with everything you need for the lesson.
In case you want to
purchase the equipment you will need skis, boots, poles and, for children under 18, the helmet.

Maximum punctuality is always recommended.
Especially on the first day of the group course we recommend that you
get there a little before the start of the selection, and to anticipate the times in case the rental material needs to be collected.

You can go to the rental shop in Pian Belfé and they will provide you with the material suited to your body and abilities.
We advise you to switch to the rental service well in advance than the start time of the lesson!

Our advice for children and teenagers

When to start skiing?

From 3-4 years of age, children can start skiing as they easily combine playful activity (game) with initial motor skills (skills).
With the pretext of the game learning is very easy. In fact, at this age, the child's spontaneous motor skills can be easily translated into precise movements which form the basis of the skiing technique.
The learning of these movements, however, takes place almost exclusively through imitation (example of the teacher): therefore children we must teach by showing people correctly, demonstrating and avoiding abstract concepts.

Between the ages of 8 and 10, when the child is able to understand abstract concepts, technical elements are introduced that make it even more complete and fun, transforming it into a real sporting activity.

Why ski as a child?

Because it's fun and games, and it's much easier to learn skiing as a game than as a set of technical elements. In practice, it is easier to learn to ski as a child (game) than as an adult (sport).

Skiing is not only fun but it's also good for motor development. From a physical point of view, in fact, it develops neuro-motor coordination and balance. From a character point of view, it teaches you to have confidence in your abilities, so it is a particularly suitable sport for shy and insecure children.

It's better to learn "in a group" evenif it takes me longer.

Better alone or in a group?

A child alone followed by a teacher perhaps learns more quickly.
Learning in a group is more fun and considering that children learn if they enjoy it, maybe it can be the best choice.
Every child is different, however, and the best solution is very subjective.
The advice for parents is not to rush and respect the child's fun.
Alone or in a group, every child learns to ski!

Why entrust children to professional instructors?

Even if mum and dad are good skiers, it is still preferable to entrust them to an instructor in order to avoid anxiety and incorrect teachings, which are more difficult to correct later.

How long to ski?

For the little ones, skiing must last a few hours. Compared to adults, children suffer from the cold and get bored sooner. For this reason it is better to indulge their wishes. If they get tired, it's better to let them play in the snow or in the warm children's area in front of a cartoon.
Never ski on an empty stomach and take a break every now and then (every hour - hour and a half) to "recharge" the child's strength and attention.

With mum and dad only when he learned the first rudiments

When the little ones begin to ski and use the chair lift or ski lift without too much difficulty, it is the ideal time to make their first descents with mum and dad too. But pay attention to the choice of slope: the one that we seems flat and easy, it may not be for them. It is essential that they do not get scared. Better not to teach anything technical, limiting yourself to providing confidence by accompanying them.

Never ski on an empty stomach and take a break every now and then (every hour - hour and a half) to "recharge" the child's strength and attention.

School is also useful for older children

The instructor is also advisable for older children: between the ages of eight and twelve they can begin to understand the first technical notions and perfect their skiing.
Once the lesson is over you can gradually give them a little ' of freedom: it is not necessary to always be with them, perhaps you can follow them from afar. Ultimately, the beauty of skiing is precisely the feeling of freedom that it can give.
If a child is inclined and above all if he wants it, from an early age he can approach competitive activity with the ski club , accompanied by coaches who will follow the entire journey. A well-done competitive activity is a path that can lead to becoming a ski instructor.
The Ala di Stura Ski Club is the one with the highest percentage in Italy of athletes who subsequently become ski instructors.
All our instructors are former ski club athletes and have been friends since they learned to ski!

Teach the rules of prudence

Our children must be taught the essential rules: be careful on the slopes, do not go too fast or venture off-piste, pay close attention to other skiers and never stop in the middle of the slope. Then you can leave them free, in the company of siblings or other friends, perhaps with an appointment every now and then or keeping an eye on them from afar. It will be a real joy for them.
On our slopes children can be free to move in a protected environment, with constant reference points and without cars.
